MONTHLY MUSINGS ABOUT FOOD + FASHION + THE DEVOLUTION OF DATING...(OR JUST SHITTY DATES).

That Shit is Bananas

Yes, those are bright, over sized shirts with monkeys and bananas on them.

A couple of questions come to mind after viewing Prada’s Spring Collection for 2011:

Would I wear it? Would I buy it?

Answer: No and No.

No offense to Ms. Prada (after all she is a true artist, bold, and unaffected by trends) but let us be honest. Who is going to wear this?

Apart from my father or Lady Gaga, the answer is no one.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have idolized the fashion industry, but now what I find upsetting is the lack of honesty–not from the designers but from the critics.

After reading New York Magazine this morning, which compiled the latest reviews on the collection, I was almost at a loss for words.

Critics raved about the new collection and were quoted as saying: it was “Perfect,” “Intellectual,” “Genius,” and (drum roll for my favorite) “Pleasurable in the same way sex is.”

Do not compare monkeys on a shirt to sex. Ever.

I love Prada, but I will sit this season out.
